Depth adjustment on a set piece
Confirm, at low volume and with maximum precision, depth and marking organisation before a corner or free kick — a final tune-up, not a development session.

1 steps
A server delivers from the chosen zone, with attackers and defenders already placed as in a match. The goalkeeper sets position before the delivery and calls the marks aloud.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Position is set before the server touches the ball, not during its flight — there is no time to adjust mid-air in a match.
- Call the mark by name or number, not “you” or “that one” — it cuts the teammate’s response time.
- Few reps, all at match intensity and precision — this is not a volume exercise.
- Confirm the reference point (post, penalty spot) before every ball, not only the first.
Progressions
- Vary the delivery origin without warning, testing quick reorganisation.
- Increase to four attackers in the box.
Regressions
- Always announce the delivery origin.
- Reduce to two attackers, with no physical contest.
