Shot-stoppingAnalyticTechnique
Pre-match reaction activation (MD)
Prime the neuromuscular system for the match with quality, low-volume contacts — match day (MD) had no shot-stopping exercises, despite being where the right activation matters most.

1 steps
A few short-range shots, with the goalkeeper working the set position and fast reaction. The aim is to wake the body and sharpen the eye, never to accumulate fatigue before the match.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Volume deliberately low — you leave the drill wanting more, not tired.
- Every contact is a quality rep: solid set position, firm hands, secure catch.
- Progress from easy to demanding across the few minutes, so the body warms without a jolt.
- Finish early if reaction sharpness is there — the goal is to reach the match sharp, not spent.
Progressions
- Slightly increase the pace of contacts.
- Vary the shot side without warning.
Regressions
- Reduce the number of contacts.
- Lower the shot intensity.
