Short neuromuscular activation
Raise nervous-system readiness before the match with short, low-volume sets, without generating residual fatigue — the goal is to wake the muscle, not train it.

Short change-of-direction series at near-maximal intensity, with few reps and full recovery between them, finishing well before any sign of fatigue appears.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- High intensity, low volume: each rep is fast, but the total is deliberately small.
- Full recovery between reps — this is not a capacity exercise, it is activation.
- Stop at the first sign of movement quality dropping, even short of the planned number of sets.
- Finish with enough time before the match for heart rate to settle without losing activation.
Progressions
- Not applicable — this exercise does not progress in demand; it exists to prepare, not to develop.
Regressions
- Reduce the number of reps further.
- Use only the linear pattern, with no changes of direction.
