Positive self-talk between precision reps
Introduce a short positive self-talk phrase between reps, said internally or quietly, as a confidence anchor that doesn’t depend on the previous action’s outcome.

A series of simple saves, with a short, personal phrase repeated between each one — before the next ball, not after evaluating the previous one.

Coaching points
- The phrase is short enough to fit the real time between actions, not a long reflection.
- Repeat the same phrase after both a good catch and a fumble — the anchor loses value if it only appears after a mistake.
- The phrase is personal and chosen with real meaning, not a generic formula copied without conviction.
- Don’t evaluate out loud whether the self-talk "worked" during the series — that interrupts the exact process being automated.
Progressions
- Reduce the time available between reps, testing whether the phrase still fits.
- Introduce a small distraction before the phrase.
Regressions
- Increase the time available between reps.
- Allow a free phrase instead of one defined in advance.
