Offside call in fast transition (u16)
Manage the offside line in the chaos of transition, deciding between stepping up to press and dropping to protect — the offside topic is thin and is hardest when the game speeds up.

Fast transitions where the line swings between stepping up to catch offside and dropping to cover the depth. The goalkeeper reads and commands in real time, and saves what gets through.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- In transition, the step-or-drop decision is made in a fraction of a second — reading the carrier gives the trigger.
- Step up only when the carrier can’t play in behind; drop as soon as that pass becomes available.
- The voice must cut through the game’s noise: short, strong call, one word per decision.
- After commanding the line, the goalkeeper must still be ready to sweep the ball that gets in behind.
Progressions
- Transition at full speed.
- Add an attacker in behind.
Regressions
- Controlled transition.
- Reduce the number of attackers.
