Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The push call goes out the instant the carrier can’t play in behind — neither before nor after.
- The drop call prevents the ball in behind when the through-pass becomes available.
- The voice is short, strong and unambiguous; the line can’t hesitate over what was asked.
- The read anticipates the pass from the carrier’s body, not waiting for the ball — anticipation is what gives the line time.
Progressions
- Line decides and the goalkeeper only corrects.
- Increase the opponent’s circulation speed.
Regressions
- Push only on the goalkeeper’s command.
- Reduce the number of attackers in behind.
