Corners that start short, changing the cross angle. The goalkeeper must reorganise the marking by voice, send a player out to the ball and readjust their own position to the new angle.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The short corner changes the angle — the marking set for the direct corner must readjust by voice, fast.
- Send a player out to the ball on the short, without leaving the box unguarded, and name who does it.
- The claim call ("keeper!") is committed and unique, so two defenders don’t hesitate on the same ball.
- Readjust your own position to the new cross angle, which no longer comes from the byline.
Progressions
- Short or direct at the opponent’s choice.
- Add a second support on the short.
Regressions
- Always an announced short corner.
- Reduce the number of attackers.
