2 steps
The ball circulates from one flank to the opposite at full width. The goalkeeper shuffles along the arc and saves the shot arriving from the new side, without crossing the feet early or opening the angle.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Shuffle along the arc across the full width, always keeping the angle shut, not in a straight line along the goal line.
- The feet shuffle without stopping during the circulation; stopping the feet at full width invites the goal.
- Arrive balanced on the new side before the shot, shoulders square to the ball.
- On the long switch, manage the energy: the shuffle is economical, to leave drive for the save.
Progressions
- Immediate shot after the wide switch.
- Add an extra pass in the circulation.
Regressions
- Switch with time to reposition.
- Reduce the circulation width.
