Set-piece calls walkthrough (MD-1)
Review set-piece organisation and calls on match eve, with minimal physical load and high cognitive load — MD-1 asks for exactly this kind of work, and communication was thin on that day.

Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Calls are specific and agreed in advance — each player knows what their call means.
- Reading the attackers’ positions starts before the ball is played; anticipation lives on the pattern, not the ball’s flight.
- The voice comes early and with authority, so defenders react in time.
- Low physical volume is intentional: it is match eve; the work is of the head and voice, not the legs.
Progressions
- Move up to match pace.
- Vary the set-piece type without warning.
Regressions
- Walk through, pausing to correct.
- Reduce the number of attackers.
