Escape pressure and switch play (senior)
Chain the first touch away from pressure with the switch of play to the free side, under real pressure — combines two thin topics in the sequence that breaks the high block and creates an overload.

Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The first touch takes the ball away from pressure; the second is already the switch — the sequence must be fluid, not two separate moments.
- The switch is only worth it if it arrives clean on the free side: along the ground when short, lofted when a press cuts across.
- Read both sides before receiving, to know the outlet before the ball arrives.
- Talk during the play — calling the free side speeds up the whole team’s decision and frees the pass.
Progressions
- Coordinated pressure from two forwards.
- Reduce the time with a more aggressive press.
Regressions
- Pressure from a single forward.
- Pressure arriving later.
