Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The goalkeeper matches depth to the distance of the ball: higher when the ball is far and controlled, deeper when a through ball is on.
- Communicate before the ball arrives, not during: useful information anticipates.
- Finish adjusting before the strike. In a game that means reading the moment the shot becomes unavoidable.
- On regaining the ball, the first option is a short oriented pass, not a long ball by default.
Progressions
- Limit to two touches, speeding up circulation and compressing reading time.
- Force long restarts, integrating distribution under fatigue.
- Allow shots only from outside the box, raising the volume of long-range shots.
Regressions
- Enlarge the space, giving more reading time.
- Reduce to 2v2.
- Allow unlimited touches.
