Pass to the far post under time pressure
Catch a cross and distribute immediately to the opposite side, exploiting the space the cross itself created — decision and technical execution together, under the real time the opposing pressure allows.

2 steps
A server crosses for the goalkeeper to catch. As soon as they catch it, they distribute to the far side before simulated pressure arrives, exploiting the momentary overload created by the cross itself.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The decision on where to distribute is made before the catch is complete, from reading the space already visible during the cross.
- The pass to the far side has to be firm and direct — a pass that’s too slow cancels the time advantage created.
- Protect the ball with the body between the catch and distribution, even when the available time is short.
- If the far side isn’t available, always have a safer second option ready.
Progressions
- Reduce the available time before pressure arrives.
- Introduce a second defender closing the passing lane.
Regressions
- Increase the available time before pressure arrives.
- Pre-announce which side to distribute to.
