Driven medium pass to skip the line
Use the driven medium pass to skip the first pressing line and find the free full-back — the driven medium pass was a thin topic and is the link that breaks the high block.

1 steps
The press shuts the short outlet; the goalkeeper plays a flat, driven medium pass to the free-side full-back, skipping the first line. No pressure first, then with a presser.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Tense contact in the middle of the ball, for a flat, fast trajectory the first line can’t intercept.
- The decision is in the angle: the medium pass opens when the short is shut and the long is risky.
- The body opens to the target before striking, so the pass leaves in the right direction without telegraphing.
- Read the press before receiving — knowing the short outlet will shut saves decision time.
Progressions
- Presser shutting the short line.
- Reduce the time window.
Regressions
- No pressure, time to choose.
- Bring the free-side target closer.
