DistributionAnalyticTechnique
Driven medium pass to a target (u12)
Develop the strong, flat medium pass to a zone — medium-range distribution was weak at young ages and is the link that skips the first line of pressure.

1 steps
The goalkeeper drives the ball flat to one of two marked zones, choosing the more open one. A still ball first, then a moving ball after a control.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Contact in the middle of the ball with the instep, for a tense, flat trajectory, not a lob.
- Plant foot beside the ball and eyes up before contact, to pick the zone.
- Weight matched to distance — the medium pass asks for firmness, not the full power of the long kick.
- Alternate zones so the foot doesn’t memorise a single direction.
Progressions
- Moving ball after a control.
- Reduce the target zone size.
Regressions
- Always a still ball.
- Bring the zones closer.
