Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- W hands behind the ball above the waist; scoop hands below it.
- Absorb the impact by withdrawing hands and arms — receive, don’t punch.
- Secure the ball against the chest immediately after the catch.
- One foot slightly ahead of the other gives a base to absorb force without stepping back.
Progressions
- Vary the service height without warning, forcing a decision on the catch type.
- Move the server to 16 metres and switch from throws to strikes.
- Serve as soon as the goalkeeper resets, cutting preparation time.
Regressions
- Bring the server to 6 metres and reduce pace.
- Announce the height before each service.
