1 steps
A goal kick with an opponent pressing the short outlet, forcing a considered long ball. The goalkeeper strikes to a gaining zone, not aimlessly.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Pressure must not wreck the mechanics: even hurried, the plant foot stays beside the ball and the contact is clean.
- Pick the zone before striking — the long kick is a possession decision, not a surrender.
- Contact below the ball’s centre for height and distance, the body following the strike.
- If the press arrives late, prefer the built outlet; long is an option, not an obligation.
Progressions
- Tight channel over the striker’s head.
- Reduce the time before pressure.
Regressions
- Wide zone in midfield.
- Remove the pressure.
