1 steps
A server plays the centre-back role and returns the ball with a back-pass. The goalkeeper orients the first touch to a chosen side, always with imagined pressure coming from behind.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The body is already oriented before the ball arrives — open the stance, don’t wait for the touch to decide.
- The first touch moves the ball away from the imagined pressure, never stops it dead under the body.
- Few reps, all with a real side decision — don’t alternate left-right mechanically.
- Keep the head up before the touch to already have the next option chosen.
Progressions
- Raise the back-pass pace to match speed.
- Demand the side decision without pre-announcing it.
Regressions
- Announce the first-touch side before the pass.
- Slow the pace of the back-pass.
