2 steps
The goalkeeper passes into a rebounder (or wall) and controls the return with a first touch oriented to the right or left cone. Continuous repetition, no opposition, no passing target.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The body opens before the ball arrives — waiting for the ball to orient has already cost half a second.
- The first touch moves the ball far enough that the second is a pass, not another control.
- Inside of the foot for a precise short touch; outside for a faster touch further away.
- Head up between touches: the scanning habit is trained here, even with nothing to see.
Progressions
- Alternate direction with no pattern, removing anticipation.
- Require outside-of-the-foot touches, technically harder and faster.
- Add simulated pressure, moving on to the receive-and-turn exercise.
Regressions
- Always fix the same direction.
- Move the rebounder closer, reducing return speed.
