Build-upRepresentativeTactics
Receive and escape pressure in one touch
Perfect the first touch that takes the ball away from pressure and creates the next passing angle — the first touch away from pressure was a thin topic and decides whether the build-up dies or lives.

2 steps
The goalkeeper receives with a presser arriving from one direction. The first touch must take the ball to the free side, immediately creating the passing line to that side’s centre-back.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The first touch is into the free space, away from pressure — never to the feet or where the presser is going.
- The touch already opens the next pass’s angle: receive to resolve, not to control for its own sake.
- Open the body before the ball arrives, so the touch can go any direction without telegraphing.
- Read the pressure direction before receiving — the right touch depends on knowing where the presser comes from.
Progressions
- Angled pressure shutting one side.
- Add a second presser.
Regressions
- Predictable frontal pressure.
- Pressure arriving later.
