2 steps
A server passes back to the goalkeeper. A cone on each side marks “pressure zones”; the announced side indicates where an opponent would come from, and the first touch must take the ball to the opposite side.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Orient the body before the ball arrives, looking over the shoulder to the free side.
- The first touch is the play: if it goes the wrong way, there’s no fixing it afterwards.
- Touch with the foot surface that already leaves the body oriented for the next pass.
- Keep the head at the same level through the touch — losing head height costs sight of the pitch.
Progressions
- Signal the pressure side only at the moment of the pass, not before.
- Reduce to one touch.
- Replace the cones with a real, low-intensity opponent.
Regressions
- Announce the side well in advance.
- Unlimited touches.
