Pre-action concentration routine
Train a routine that brings attention to its peak at the right instant, after long waits with no action — concentration between actions is what prevents the goal on the single play of a quiet match.

Shots spaced by long, unpredictable waits. The goalkeeper uses an attention-reactivation routine (breath, visual trigger, foot adjustment) to arrive ready for the play that appears from nowhere.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Attention can’t stay at its peak the whole match — train to rise to the peak with a trigger, at the right moment.
- The routine is short and repeatable: a physical signal that returns focus to the here and now.
- During the wait, a sustainable attention level; at the first hint of action, the routine raises it.
- The quiet-match goal comes in the distraction — this training attacks exactly that window.
Progressions
- Long, unpredictable wait.
- Add distractions during the wait.
Regressions
- Short wait.
- Announce the moment of the shot.
