Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The block shape is wide and low: legs and arms cover the goal, hands forward and low.
- Attack the space, not the player — reach the ball or shut it down, never go studs-up.
- The last step brakes and turns the run into a balanced block shape, ready to react to the touch.
- Hold the eyes on the ball until contact; the body follows the ball, not the attacker’s dribble.
Progressions
- Diagonal attacker with more speed.
- Reduce the decision time.
Regressions
- Frontal, slower attacker.
- Shorten the approach distance.
