Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Driven pass with tempo: a slow pass invites pressure from the nearest opponent.
- Body shape open to see the pitch before touching the ball, not just the pass target.
- Choose the standing foot to open the angle for the next pass, not just the current one.
- Under pressure, the decision to play short or clear must be made before the ball arrives.
Progressions
- Introduce a pressing opponent from the first whistle.
- Have the centre-back move laterally, requiring the pass trajectory to adjust.
- Reduce time available: one-touch pass required.
Regressions
- No opposition, focus purely on passing technique.
- Increase the distance to allow more decision time.
