1 steps
An attacker breaks through from a set distance. The goalkeeper comes out, narrows the angle, and resolves by controlling the ball, with no real physical contest against the attacker.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- The come-out starts the moment the ball is released ahead of the attacker, not before.
- Block shape: big body, arms spread, no jumping or anticipating the shot.
- Arrive under control, not at maximum speed — arriving out of control cancels the advantage of coming out.
- Few reps, all at maximum decision quality.
Progressions
- Increase the starting distance of the breakaway.
- Allow controlled contact at the moment of closing down.
Regressions
- Reduce the breakaway distance.
- Announce in advance when the attacker will break through.
