1 steps
The opponent repeatedly seeks the run in behind. The goalkeeper reads the pass moment and commands: hold the line for offside, or drop and sweep the ball.
Exercise sequence
Coaching points
- Hold the line only when the carrier can’t play in behind at that instant — the read is off the carrier’s body.
- If the pass becomes available, drop in time and prepare to sweep the ball behind.
- The call is single and strong; the line can’t have two keepers commanding different things.
- After commanding, the goalkeeper is the last resort: sweeping requires the timing the other drills train.
Progressions
- Autonomous line, goalkeeper only corrects.
- Increase the circulation speed.
Regressions
- Goalkeeper commands each adjustment.
- Reduce the number of attackers.
