The coach serves and manages the breaks.
A guided imagery session, no ball. The goalkeeper relives well-resolved situations in detail and, later, mentally rehearses demanding scenarios from the next opponent.
Coaching points
- Imagery is first-person and multisensory — see, hear and feel the action, not watch it from outside.
- Start with the keeper’s real successes: confidence anchors to memory, not fantasy.
- Only then rehearse hard scenarios, to arrive at the match with the response already "seen".
- Short, regular sessions beat long, sporadic ones — regularity is what consolidates.
Progressions
- Move to next-opponent scenarios.
- Add a rehearsal of the pre-match routine.
Regressions
- Stay only with success situations.
- Shorten the session length.
